Cé is Asher Gray, Devin McCabe, and Randy Gosa

The Band

Cé was formed in spring 2004 by three multi-instumentalists: Asher Gray and Devin McCabe, formerly of Anam Rí, and Randy Gosa, formerly of St. Brendan's Voyage. The Irish word, Cé, translates to the English word, "quay", a dock or wharf, a fitting title for a band based in Milwaukee. Cé plays traditional and contemporary Celtic music.

All of the members of Cé regularly play at traditional Irish music sessions in the Milwaukee area and are heavily involved in the local music community as both teachers and performers. Cé has been a featured guest at the world-renown Milwaukee Irish Fest every year since the formation of the band.

Asher Gray (flute, whistle, bouzouki, bodhrán)

Asher has been playing traditional Irish music for over 10 years and was a founding member of the youthful Milwaukee group, Anam Rí. As well as winning numerous competitions at the Midwest Fleadh Cheoil, Asher was also the recipient of the Ed Ward Scholarship in 2000, presented yearly at Milwaukee Irish Fest for accomplishments in Irish music. Asher recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with an arts degree and continues to be heavily involved in the Milwaukee session scene. In addition, Asher teaches music at the Irish Fest School of Music.

Devin McCabe (fiddle, concertina, whistle)

Devin has been playing music since the age of five and has been involved in traditional Irish music for approximately 10 years. He began fiddle instruction under Milwaukee native Ed Paloucek and Chicago fiddler Liz Carroll and has taught himself the concertina and whistle in recent years. Devin is another recipient of the Ed Ward Scholarship. Although he keeps firm Milwaukee roots, Devin is currently a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying mathematics.

Randy Gosa (tenor banjo, guitar, snare)

Randy has studied music with several musicians such as Liz Carroll, Silé Shigley, Andy Irvine, Tony Nother, and has studied at the University of Limerick, Ireland with Niall Keegan and Sandra Joyce. In addition to being a string musician since the age of 12, Randy is a graduate of Visual Art and Celtic Studies from the UW-Milwaukee. He is also an active céilí and set dance musician in Milwaukee and, with Asher, teaches at the Irish Fest School of Music.
